The final race of Kyle's rookie season proved to be a challenging, but rewarding one. There were fewer drivers than usual, and all of them were more experienced and faster than Kyle. During Practice, Qualifying and Heat 1 (there was only 1 heat this race), he was able to keep pace, but there was about a half a second gap between him and the rest of the pack. However, during the final race, Kyle demonstrated that he could compete with this field when he posted faster lap times than the kart just ahead of him, driven by Sonny Cervelli. This allowed him to close the gap and finish the race right on Sonny's heels. Despite the fact that Kyle came in last in this race, Sonny, like many of the other drivers in Kyle’s class compete in National races, so we went home feeling pretty good about the progress he’s made this season.
