Race 8 started out promising since Kyle qualified P7 out of 11 drivers. He actually could have easily gotten P6 but was unfortunately slowed down by the driver in front of him who was over 0.3 seconds slower – so Kyle caught up to him after the 3rd lap (where he set his fastest time), then had to settle for slower times in the last 2 laps since he couldn't get a clean pass. His P7 time was only 0.033 seconds shy of the driver who qualified P6, and he could have easily gotten that if he had a clear track ahead of him.
Unfortunately, after Heat 1 (where he improved his best lap time to 51.638), Kyle started having engine problems and was only able to get 2 laps in on Heat 2. This was a second engine since his normal engine blew up during the Saturday practice sessions. In the main race, he had to pull out before the rolling start since it still was't operating properly.
It was a bummer to miss this race, since based on the field, he had a good chance to finish 6th out of 11.
