Sanzaru Games Karting Championships Race 6
Kyle continues to get better with each race. Although he qualified 7th (out of 9), the gap was only 0.153 seconds from P6 and 0.172 seconds away from P5. For this race, it was a real tight field — only a second separated the front from the back in qualifying (50.145 to 51.171).
In the first heat race, the two drivers ahead of him, Leonard Chau and Davin Foster, took each other out at the start of the race. Thankfully, Kyle was able to maneuver around them without getting tangled up (it happened right in front of him — check out the video below), so he finished that race in P5. In the second heat race, Kyle was able to pass Davin in lap 3, so he finished P6.
Due to his performance in those heats, he was able to start the main P5, which is the highest he has ever started a race in this series. The hot weather seemed to affect the scales so we ended up putting another 5 pound weight on his kart just in case for the main. Unfortunately, a bad start put him back to P7 early and the extra weight seemed to bog Kyle down a little though, since he couldn't seem to close the gap between him and Davin as easily as he had in the second heat race, and the two racers behind him, John Balen and Zia Harvey, were both right on his tail the entire race. .
