Lemans Karting Sunday Night Heat Results
We were hoping for slightly better results on his second Sunday Night Heat race, but all-in-all we are still happy with how he did. This time, there were 30 drivers instead of 19 (like the first race), so the competition was tougher. Kyle still managed to just barely squeak in to the top 10, so he had a chance to race in the Finals (top 10 racers), where he started 10th on the grid, but made up 2 spots and finished 8th overall.
He probably would have started a little higher on the grid if it were not for an incident in the second Qualifier round which left him a little frustrated. There was some contact from behind which in turn caused him to lose his 2nd position to about 5th or 6th, but he still managed to move up and finished that race in 3rd. He actually had a good chance of finishing that race in 2nd or possibly even 1st if not for the collision, which left him stuck behind a spun-out driver for several seconds while others passed him.
Kyle did great in the semi-finals, starting in 3rd (due to the combination of his previous qualifying sessions). He quickly moved up to 2nd at the start and never lost the position. The driver in 1st during that race was the eventual winner of the Finals.
8 out of 30 is still pretty darn good, but there was one big downside to this race. He lost a total of 413 points since some of the racers that finished ahead of him throughout the evening had fewer overall points, which ultimately is great for them, but bad for him. I’m sure he will make some of it back up in his Tues/Thurs Cambrian Team sessions though.
Here are the results from the Final race:
