Scored a Top 10 January time at Lemans Karting

January isn’t over yet, but we just got an email from Lemans promoting their Valentines Day specials which included the top times for January through the 20th.

We happened to go this past weekend and Kyle’s time of 18:151 is #10 (Mr. Fookie). In our first Time Attack, we were in the same race as That Kid (#1 on the list), That Dad (#4) and Slug (#6), who had been racing prior to our arrival. Kyle actually came in third when we joined them in our first race, ahead of That Kid who ended up in 4th in that race. We followed it up with a Sprint race where Kyle had an epic back-and-forth battle with Slug, who won pole in the qualifier round, but Kyle took home the 1st place finish after duking it out and swapping leads a couple of times with him over the course of 43 laps (see results below). In other words, he’s right up there with the best guys racing at Lemans. I was pretty enthralled with what was going on between the two of them that I pretty much slowed down my pace to watch them (those 3 green spikes below are when I let them pass so as not to interfere with their battle). There was no way I would catch them anyway since they are both a good second or more faster than I am.

Here are his results from that race (red line):

He actually posted a best lap time of 18.057 in that race, but it wasn't counted in the January results since that was a Sprint Race (for position), not a Time Attack. That would have put him in the #5 slot, instead of #10 if it counted. In fairness, Slug hit 17.9 in the same lap Kyle hit 18.057 (lap 10) since he was trying to catch Kyle – which he clearly did, but just couldn’t get the pass.

Here’s the rest of the results:
