Got to try out the same motion simulator the pros use at the F1 USGP in Austin.
I attended the Formula 1 USGP at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX where I claimed victory in the F1 Game Zone Racing Simulator three consecutive times. First thing I had to do was win a head-to-head race against 7 other drivers. The lines were long, but worth the wait.
Thanks to those easy victories, I qualified to drive several laps on the Professional Motion Simulator three times as well. My first try was complete disaster because I didn’t know how the controls worked exactly (I had no idea where the KERS and DRS button triggers were, and I assumed that the transmission was automatic. The only active driving assist was the display of the racing line on the track, which I didn't need).
On my third try, I scored a top 10 weekend time of 1:42 driving COTA. After I got home, I got a copy of the same game used on the stimulators and practiced on the same track. I scored 1:35 after a couple hours.
