The Allen Berg Racing School Experience - Day 2

7am Track Walk Swagger. Canadian Journalist Paul Ferriss (left) interviewed me for a magazine article about ABRS. I’m looking forward to reading it!

Day 2 of Allen Berg Racing School was a lot more fast-paced than the first. Just like the first day, we went through a track walk and lead-follow session in the morning, and the instructors told us to work on specific techniques. Since this was pretty much my first time driving stick shift, heel-toe was completely new to me.

Lu Bergandi helped me smooth out my starts.

I was quite surprised by how easy it was for me to learn the technique. It was actually a lot of fun because it was easy. I spent the day working in my heel-toe and adjusting to the feeling of the car's top speed, as well as working on developing a habit of smooth driving in all areas. The data debriefing was what helped me the most all day. I identified my mistakes both on and off the track and corrected them the next session. The only major struggle I had was my braking because I was right-foot braking, rather than left-foot braking, which was something that I am used to in a kart. At the end of the day, my best lap time was 1:51:2.

To find out what my best time for the weekend was, continue to Day 3
